Swallows have really caught my attention lately.  We saw these Violet-green swallows while hiking in Grant Count Park.

Take Flight
16″ x 16″ Watercolor on Canvas
I was struck recently by what beautiful coloring barn swallows have and also how graceful they are flying.

Rhythm in Blue
20″ x 20″  Watercolor on Canvas
The agapanthus are blooming in our yard and I love their blue violet color.  I also like the way they dwarf the hummingbirds which feed on them.

Limb Symphony
30″ x 15″ watercolor on canvas
The inspiration for this painting came on a hike in Joseph D. Grant County Park.  I was taken with the moss on the leafless oak trees.

Hope in Adversity
15″ x 30″ watercolor on canvas
I visited two different great blue heron nesting areas this winter.  Both times it was stormy and the nests were being blown around dramatically.

Grateful Gathering
24′” x 36″  watercolor on canvas
This painting began with sketches of my parents bird feeders during a Thanksgiving visit to Athens, Ohio.   I liked how a good meal can bring both birds and people together.

Moonlight Sonata
20″ x 20″ watercolor on canvas
After a long absence, a great horned owl appeared on our block.  He was quite dramatic hooting from our neighbors pine trees.

Leafy Labyrinth 2

This painting was done as a companion piece for Leafy Labyrinth painting below.

Leafy Labyrinth
30″ x 15″ watercolor on canvas

This painting grew out of a walk in a Los Angeles marsh with my daughter.  We enjoyed seeing wild sunflowers blooming in October and at first didn’t see the flock of goldfinches feeding on them.
