January 21 Lesson: Composition formats using value shapes
Subject: snow scenes
bring reference photos of snow scenes
January 28 Lesson: Painting with a limited palette – using only three primary colors
Subject: your choice – any subject
bring reference material
February 4 Lesson: Using color to move eye through painting
Subject: still life with reflective surfaces (metal, glass, plastic)
bring still life set up with bit of color , camera
February 11 no class
February 18 Lesson: Using whites to lead the eye through a painting
Subject: architectural subject – building or street scene
bring reference photos, tracing paper
February 25 Lesson: Line Extension
Subject: abstract beginning with a food photo collage
Bring photos of food, scissors, glue, cardboard
March 4 Lesson: sketching with pen and ink and wash
Subject: children
bring as many photos of children as possible for timed exercises
March 11 Lesson:  Exploring textures and overlapping textures
Subject: meadows, trees, shrubbery, foliage
bring if you have them: fun stuff to make textures – anything to stamp, sponges,
toothbrushes, palette knives
